Honored by Gainesville Friends of Jazz2006 Gary LangfordGary Langford is a founding Director and current Board Member of Gainesville Friends of Jazz, Inc. He is a graduate of the prestigious University of North Texas Jazz Studies Program. During his 37-year career at the University of Florida, he served as Professor of Music, Assistant Director of the School of Music, and Director of Concert Band, Marching Band and Jazz Band. Gary has performed five times as part of the Gainesville Friends of Jazz Concert Series.Gary, an accomplished arranger, has completed over 400 arrangements for marching band. He was recognized by the International Association of Jazz Educators as a recipient of their Outstanding Jazz Educator Award. Gary was honored twice by the University of Florida as Teacher of the Year. He has introduced thousands of students to jazz through his popular Jazz History class. |
